![]() This is like the lions and tigers and bears of “Runway.” Embellishments and shoulders and pants, oh my!ĭuring Dexter’s critique, he and Tim reflect on the judges’ comments of late, wondering how they’ll respond if/when Dexter stops playing it safe. Dexter is experimenting with a giant, round shoulder. Erin is going back to her roots with an embroidery technique that from this angle looks like something my cat destroyed. We shall see.Īt this point in the competition, some designers are taking some serious risks. Finally, in what he believes to be a stroke of genius, Cornelius grabs yellow leather thinking a pop of color will stand out on the runway. Laurence chooses a red leather, even though she claims she’s not a “leather designer.” I say she can call herself whatever she likes as long as she keeps delivering those sweet and salty leather looks. Brik goes for stripes and geometric shapes in two different fabrics and colors, inspired by I-don’t-know-what, while Nathalia grabs some Kong-inspired faux fur. In the cheeky way that only Tim can get away with, he announces that the jungle surrounding Skull Island reminds him of another jungle – the urban jungle!Īt Mood, Brik and Nathalia make some interesting choices. Heidi notices straight away that the designers are completely breaking down and rewards their hard work with a surprise trip to Universal Orlando Resorts! In the tropical climate of Florida, the designers meet Tim and Mike West, Director/Executive Producer of Universal Creative, outside of the brand new multi-dimensional attraction Skull Island: Reign of Kong. So while I haven’t been as productive as our cast of (now) ten designers, I can relate to their need for some real-deal rest and relaxation. The abrupt shift from summer fun combined with the anticipation for the upcoming holidays makes me want to hibernate until it’s time to stuff my face full of pecan pie. But there is something about this city in this season that is absolutely exhausting. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: I love autumn in New York. ![]() Season 15, Episode 7 Recap: Welcome to the Urban Jungle I am hoping Bravo will continue the All Stars and Project Runway Junior, along with PR…Keeping those fingers crossed.Article Details: Season 15, Episode 7 Recap: Welcome to the Urban Jungle I was glad he wasn’t sent home this week. Sean Kelly is another of my favorites and just seems so willing to make those changes to be better designer. Jury is still out for me when it comes to Biddell. I didn’t see anything remarkable in his designs, so less sniping in work room is going to be nice. He whined from the moment he walked into the sewing studio until the end of Runway. ![]() Then again, we have snark coming from all one time or another but seems better than some seasons. Snarky does get to me at times coming from him. Gorgeous, don’t get me wrong, but not a lot of thinking out of the box. I have seen lot of those one sleeved “One Trick Pony” dresses from him. This final All Star season on Lifetime, he has so impressed me with his skill set as a very talented designer throughout this season so far.Īs far as Dmitry, honestly how I feel about his work has always had a hot/cold ring to it. I have not been in the past impressed with Anthony Ryan’s designs. Michelle has always been one of my faves, since she is a Pacific Northwest designer. Anthony Ryan’s coat could be utilized in so many different ways with different populations. I have worked with children with different diagnoses for over 23 years, and found the coats both to be compelling designs for the deaf and on those on the autism spectrum. With that being said, I was thrilled to see acknowledging of persons with disabilities through the designs of Anthony Ryan and Michelle. I too struggle with anytime there is an Avant Garde challenge with the criteria being so fluid. “Simple and pure,” indeed.Īs for this week’s elimination, the writing was on the wall fairly early for the bottom two: Sean Kelly was forced to whip up his back-up dress at the last minute, resulting in a look that left guest judge Anna Camp “confused,” while Django Steenbakker was warned early in the episode that his invention “doesn’t sound like something we’ve never seen before.” Had he been more receptive to Anne Fulenwider’s feedback, Django might have saved himself from elimination.ĭo you think Django was the right designer to get the boot? Drop a comment with your thoughts on this week’s Project Runway All Stars below. Constructed with carpet padding, it was an eye-catching mini dress with an additional piece that enables the wearer to close herself off if she’s feeling anxious. That said, Michelle Lesniak gave Anthony a run for his money with a stunning “sensory depravation jacket,” which was inspired by her friend’s autistic child.
